After the pandemic of 2020, there needs to be something to make people feel better and laugh together once again.

Now in 2021, there are several movies lined up for this purpose. Cinemas were closed for most of last year, and now they will be opened with a bang.

Here is a list of 6 movies to look out for in 2021, you absolutely do not want to miss these.

1) Godzilla vs Kong: This epic is to be released first to be streamed on 25th March 2021, and six days later the 31st in cinemas worldwide. It involves a huge battle between two fearsome monsters, Godzilla, and Kong while the humans also try to exterminate both and regain full control of planet Earth. The movie was directed by Adam Wingard, and is a proper spinoff to the Godzilla movies, the last of which was in 2019.

2) Black Widow: Black Widow tragically died in Avengers: Endgame, but Marvel Studios have chosen to give her a standalone movie which is centred around the time after she returned from Avengers: Civil War. Scarlett Johansson keeps her lead role as Black Widow in the movie which was directed by Cate Shortland. The movie will be released first for early viewing on April 29th, 2021, and in cinemas worldwide from the 7th of April.

3) Fast & Furious 9: Directed by Justin Lin, F9 is the ninth part of the Fast and Furious movies. It is a direct sequel to the 2017 movie, The Fate of the Furious. In this part, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) meets his abandoned brother Jakob (John Cena). It was due to be released on May 22, 2020, but had to be pushed back by a year because of the coronavirus pandemic, and will now be released initially on the 1st of April, 2021.

4) The Suicide Squad: DC Universe have a sequel to Suicide Squad in the works and it is set to be released on the 6th of August 2021. It was directed by James Gunn and tells the story of the adventures of Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, and other supervillains who have been assembled by Amanda Waller.

5) Mission: Impossible 7: Tom Cruise is set to continue in his role as Ethan Hunt in the latest edition of Mission: Impossible, to be released on 19th of November 2021. It was directed by Christopher McQuarrie. A direct sequel is to be released one year later in 2022.

6) DOD: Produces by Victoria Akujobi of the Anthill Studios, Nigeria’s first ever time travel movie is set to hit cinemas in 2021. It talks about the adventures of two boys, Chidi and Rotimi, played by Denola Grey and Olumide Oworu. Both boys use magic to travel back in time and change their parents’ financial status. The movie has a star-studded cast, with many A-list Nollywood actors casted in the movie. The movie has no official release date yet.

For lovers, there’s also Space Jam: A New Legacy coming out this year, starring some of basketball’s biggest names.
